Digital Games

These are some prototypes of 2D and 3D digital games I made for school. I learnt to design levels, implement multiple mechanics, and calculate metrics.

Mystic Meadows

This is an RPG I made for my final assignment (FA) for my Game Programming Module. I used 2d pixel sprites and design the tilemap path/world my player is in. I used the Little Dreamyland asset pack by Starmixu and Utaskuas on itch.io. The main objective of this FA is to create a fully functional game with a main menu, gameplay loop, and an end state.

Synopsis: You play as Bunny who takes on a quest by Lion. Lion wants you to save Duck, who is held captive by mighty slimes. He tells you that you will be greatly rewarded if you successfully save him.

Way Home Obby

This is a prototype of a stealth-inspired 3D puzzle game for my Digital Game Prototype module. I paired up with my friend to develop this prototype and we split the work. I was partner B who focused on enemies, AI and systems in the game. I made enemies like patrol guards and turret. We used assets from our lesson resources and the Unity asset store.

Synopsis: You are lost bird trying to find your way home. You must go through obstacles, avoid and distract enemies, and collect coins to buy a key to unlock a gate.

Railway Revival

This is a futuristic train restoration game. It is an educational Singapore-based game as the puzzles are related to MRTs. This project aims to focus more on level-design aspects instead of aesthetics/coding.

Synopsis: You play as Orion, who must restore a train station to get back home to your friend Nova. You must complete MRT puzzles, unlock new rooms and find a secret code.

Game Development of Mission: Lead

My main project I worked on at ICA was to create a cooperative, digital leadership game which will be played by officers during their respective lessons. This game will teach them to work together to make decisions regarding leadership-dilemma scenarios. This is a development log of the game planning I have done so far.

Core Game Loop

The core game loop shows the different phases that players will go through during the game. It shows different path ways and what they gain or lose (metrics) in certain phases.

Storyboards - Game Phases

I made storyboards to help me visualise how I want the different phases of the game to look like when I develop it digitally. Illustrating what I imagine helps me to see my plan clearly compared to typing it out in a word document.

2D Art & Wireframe

Here are some 2D assets/designs I made for player role cards and UI to be used for the digital game.  I also made a low-fidelity wireframe to visualise the flow of the digital game. (referencing my storyboards) All of these were made in Affinity.
